If you don’t know who Yuri Simoes is its time to take heed and watch out for him in 2012!!! Yuri is a representative of Ricardo Vieira and the Checkmat team.He’s a 4 time World champion,a No-Gi World champion at weight and open weight, a 4 time European champion and he’s a Brazilian National Champion to top  it off. I recently chatted with him and heres what he had to say.

1.What is your main motivation to win at such high levels of competition?

I think that my main motivation is the dream that i have had since very young to be successful in this sport and so every time i go for a tournament i keep my focus on that, i have my plans my objectives and my dreams in this sport and i know i aways give 100% in something i want to make happen so once i get in the competition i just think that nobody wants that more than i do, and nobody deserves it more than me.

2.What is the biggest piece of advice can you give competitors looking to be future champions in this sport?

You know i am still looking for my future as a Champion in this sport I still feel like a beginner to be honest,but i guess if you wanna be a champion you gotta make your self deserve it, gotta work hard and do everything right to make it happen, a lot of people say they wanna be champion but they don’t really wanna it 100%.

3.What can we look forward to seeing you accomplish in 2011

2012 I’m gonna become World champion at Blackbelt medium heavy weight!!!! I am ready psychologically,physically, and technically ready for when the time comes up. I know nobody there will be more ready than me! Its been a war every training session and I am really positive about next year. i heard a lot of people saying that 2012 the world is gonna end. So I wanna make sure I accomplish my dream before that happens haha!!!!
